Moving toward a new life can be difficult, it can be exciting, and it can be overwhelming. Rarely are emotions linear and rational as you move from being married to being single. A skilled guide is essential to the journey.
Merriam Park and Ramsey County Visitation Rights Attorney
At Adams Schinzing P.A., located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, my goal is provide all available options. Although I am your attorney, when you are going through a divorce and making arrangements for custody and visitation, I am mindful of the fact that this is your life, your family, and your decisions to make.
As a lawyer, I am always straight-forward with my clients, advising of both the upsides and the downsides to their choices. I use open communication and, based on my years of experience, I provide legal advise so you are able to consider all possible options for your future and your family’s.
Making Decisions About Mom and Dad
Even after your split, you are still going to have to co-parent with your former spouse. In Minnesota, there are as many options for custody and visitation arrangements as there are divorcing couples. From my perspective it should be what makes sense for you and your family.
There are two basic custody models, however. They are:
- Joint custody, where each parent has each child substantially equal time.
- Sole custody, where one parent provides the primary residence of the children, and visitation (also known as parenting time) allotted to the other parent.
As mentioned above, there are many other parenting time options as well. What is important is to find a schedule that is in the best interest of your children and can meet the needs of your family.
At Adams Schinzing P.A., I will work with you, for you and the greater good of your family. Please call me for your initial consultation.
